Send photos from an iPhone to a Samsung or Android
AirDrop only works between Apple devices, except on a few recent Android flagships. Here's what works for every phone.
1. Recent Pixel or Galaxy: try AirDrop first
Some 2025–2026 Android flagships can receive AirDrop directly. If yours can, it's the simplest. If not (most Galaxy A, older or mid-range phones), read on.
2. With Hop and Quick Share (Wi-Fi, full quality)
Install Hop on the iPhone. On the Android, swipe down, tap Quick Share and choose “Everyone”. Both on the same Wi-Fi: the phone appears in Hop's “Nearby” row; tap it and accept on the Android. Without Quick Share, scan Hop's QR code with the Android camera and download from the page.
3. With Google Photos
Upload from the iPhone to Google Photos, then share a link. Works anywhere, but it goes through the cloud and the Google account's storage.
4. With WhatsApp or e-mail
Fine for a few pictures, but compressed.
Like AirDrop, with every Android and PC.
Get HopDoes Bluetooth work between iPhone and Android?
No: iOS doesn't allow sending files over Bluetooth to Android. Hop uses Bluetooth only to spot the phone nearby; the transfer goes over Wi-Fi, which is much faster anyway.
Will videos keep their quality?
With Hop and Quick Share, yes: the original file is sent, without compression.
