Hop

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026.

Hop collects no data. There is no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

How transfers work

While you keep a session open, Hop runs a small web server on your iPhone, reachable only from your local network (your Wi-Fi or the iPhone's Personal Hotspot). Files go directly between your devices. Nothing is sent to us or to any cloud.

Nearby devices (Quick Share)

While Hop is open, it finds Android phones and PCs on your local network that use Quick Share, and can be seen by them. Transfers go directly between the two devices, encrypted, and you accept each one; both screens show the same code. If you allow Bluetooth, Hop only uses it to notice a device right next to you; no file goes over Bluetooth.

Back up to your PC

If you use this Hop Pro feature, Hop reads your photo library to copy the photos and videos taken since your last backup, and sends them directly to the PC you choose on your local network. Nothing is uploaded anywhere else.

Access code

Each session has a new 4-digit code shown on the iPhone. A browser must enter it before it can see or send anything. After five wrong codes, Hop refuses attempts for 30 seconds.

Files you receive

They are stored on your iPhone, in the Files app under On My iPhone › Hop, and may be included in your iCloud Backup. Hop adds a photo or a video to your library only when you ask it to.

Purchases

Hop Pro is purchased through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details.
